How close are you to type-2 diabetes? FINDRISC estimates your risk
FINDRISC uses age, BMI, waist, activity, diet, blood-pressure medication, glucose history and family history — 8 questions — to estimate your 10-year risk of type-2 diabetes, total 0-26: <7 low, 7-11 slightly elevated, 12-14 moderate, 15-20 high, >20 very high. It estimates risk, not a diagnosis — a high score is a prompt to check glucose and adjust lifestyle. Free; scored locally. A risk tool, not a diagnosis.

Common questions
Does a high score mean I have diabetes?
No. FINDRISC estimates the probability of future disease, not a current diagnosis. A high score means it is worth checking glucose (fasting glucose / HbA1c / glucose tolerance) and improving lifestyle.
How do I calculate BMI and measure waist?
BMI = weight (kg) ÷ height (m) squared; waist is measured at the navel during quiet breathing. This site also has a BMI tool to help.
Can high risk be lowered?
Yes. Studies show weight loss, regular exercise and healthy eating markedly lower diabetes risk in high-risk people. Intervene with a doctor's guidance.
