How have you been lately? WHO-5 measures it in 5 statements

WHO-5 is the WHO's 5-item well-being index over the past 2 weeks, asking about cheerfulness, calm, energy, sleep and interest — unlike other scales, higher is better. On a 0-100 scale, < 50 suggests low well-being and < 28 suggests further depression screening. Short, positive, good for periodic tracking. Free; scored locally.

Common questions

Why is a higher score good here?
WHO-5 measures positive well-being/vitality, so higher means a better state — the opposite of PHQ-9, SDS and similar 'higher = more symptoms' scales.
Does a low score mean depression?
Not necessarily. A low WHO-5 suggests a low state and warrants further assessment (e.g. PHQ-9); whether it is depression is for a clinician to judge.
