Common questions

What does MELD-Na Score do?

Estimate 90-day mortality risk in chronic liver disease; allocation follows your own transplant system's standard.

How is the result calculated?

MELD = 3.78·ln(bilirubin) + 11.2·ln(INR) + 9.57·ln(creatinine) + 6.43 (each floored at 1.0, creatinine capped 4.0); MELD-Na adjusts for sodium (125–137) when MELD > 11. Range 6–40.

Is this a substitute for clinical judgement?

No. All results are decision-support only, for licensed clinicians. They must be individualized to the whole patient and the latest guideline version.
