Step 1 / 1 · Is the airway threatened?
Massive hemoptysis — is the airway threatened / hemodynamically stable?
💡 Definitions of massive hemoptysis vary (often >100–600 mL/24 h, or any hemoptysis threatening the airway/ventilation); death is usually from asphyxiation rather than blood loss. Causes: bronchiectasis, tuberculosis, tumor, fungal, vascular, coagulopathy, etc. Involve respiratory/interventional radiology/thoracic surgery early.
